My first statement of purpose

As Albert Eintein said, "If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal. Not to people or things." I absolutely agree with that. I had a dream when I was in the primary school to be a dentist. The experience of my first dentist ‘s visit made me feel impressed with the dentist’s treatment as I was a 9 year -old girl. He applied the fluoride varnish and sealants to my teeth and he did not let me fear. I intended to study in Faculty of Dentistry, Chiang Mai University with my family support and my ambition as the main aim. When I was in Matthayom 6 in Nakhon Sawan School, I had a seat in Chiang Mai university, academic year 2005. The duration in the dental school, I received the memorable experience and much valuable knowledge to make me grown up proudly to be a adult. Pediatric Dentistry is one of my favorite subject that I was happy and truly interested while I was an undergraduate student. I started to study the lecture courses of Pediatric Dentistry when I was a 4th year dental student in the 2nd semester and I got the inspiration from my advisor who is Asst. Dr. Chompunut Khunnalertkit. She gave me a good advices, many kind help and also good suggestion for my study. I started the clinical practice when I was in the 5th year and the last year of my study period. I realized that working with child patients, it is necessary to care and understand the children as much as I can and they will have the good co-operation in treatment to the dentists. Moreover, I was really impressed with studying in Preventive Dentistry in Clinic and School subject as I was a 5th year student. The aims of this course are to make the projects with applying the health promotion and disease protection concept, to do personal health promotion in preventive dental clinic and lastly to work in community health promotion in the local area and different target group. My project advisors are Assoc. Dr. Patcharawan Srisilapanan and Dr. Tidawan Wiwatkunupakan. In the late 2009, Family and Community dentistry department held the yearly competition of outstanding project in this subject in community subject. And I was the member of team of the year award in academic year 2009. In 2010, I had the opportunity to practice in Somdej Phrayannasangworn hospital, Amphure Wiang Chai, Chiang rai. It is a part of Community Dentistry Practice subject from January- February, 2011. I had the good opportunity to practice and received good suggestions from Dr. Paithoon Saisanguansat who is the expertise dentist and he taught and explained me as continue doing the project “ Primary school quality of life development”. I found that the Sriwiang school chidren quality of life development is one of the inspiration that made me desired to work with school children group and would like to study the factor for quality of life’s promotion more in physical factor, E.Q. I.Q. and etc. For the subject, Research and Saminar tn Dentistry, I studied the methodology, results, conclusion and discussion on my paper in the year 2009-2010. The research advisors were Assoc. Dr. Chintana Ittidecharon and Assoc. Dr. Patchanee Chuveera and I chose and completed my research with 4 colleagues by the topic : Effect of dentin sealing with a dentin bonding agent immediately after tooth preparation on micro-tensile bond strength of resin cement in composite onlay restoration. This research was an experimental study which I learned the methodology in the scientific experimental study and the tools for testing such as Isomet®1000 , stereoscope using, statistics evaluation , etc. Before I graduated from Chiang Mai University, I had the overtime extra class at Lnguage institute, Chiang Mai University with Academic & Thesis Writing class attending from October – December, 2010. As I learned the English formal writhing which is truly helpful and it is relevant to apply it in this present society. Because Thailand will join ASEAN Economic Community: AEC in 2015. As a role of dentist is essential to continue studying knowledge throughout the international stardard and be able to communicate, understand and apply the knowledge as international level. After graudation from Chiang Mai University, I worked in Nong Chang hospital which is a 90 bed –sized hospital and the referral node center hospital running after Uthaithani general hospital. My hospital is located in Amphure Nong chang, Uthai thani and it is subordinated of Uthai thani Health Officer, Public Health permanent secretary office. Generally, the recently graduated dentists have the contact with the public health ministry to work in the hospitals in the government section at least 3 year. My main job description is the treatment services, and most patients are the children age 3- 12 years. Due to, there is a large primary school which contain more than 2 thousand students near my hospital area. It is strongly important to treat the child patients, the approximately number of patient sometimes reach to 80 people/ day. Besides, in health promotion responsibility under the National Health Security Office (NHSO) project, I was assigned to work with child center target group. The main problems are not only the prevalence of dental caries in children but it is also lack of prevention and oral health promotion. Because, there is no person who has expertise and knowledge in dealing with this problems and the complications of diseases in different person. From these reasons, I have decided to apply the Master Programme in Pediatric Dentistry, Mahidol University, due to the organization service plan and include the need of community. In my province, there is no dentist who is a Pedodontist. I would like to fulfill my professional career and I want to study more in Child Management in Dental Practice, Management of Oral Diseases in Children, Dentistry for Special Child and including the pedodontics related research. In addition, with my practical background and my dedication I am sure that I will work and continue the study along my province service plan. I decided to select the International program due to the importance of international knowledge and treatment as the international standard. It will have benefit to Uthai-thani local student and also it is suitable for the social acception which include the international standard to present and communicate to others. Thus, I would deeply appreciate your consideration of my application for the Master programme in DENTISTRY(INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMME) Pediatric Dentistry, in your University.
